Fashioning Your Own Direction
Nickelback’s song If Today Was Your Last Day starts out:
My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride
Many doctors and medical professionals are stuck. Somehow, somewhere they've become an essential cog in a machine that they totally loathe. Yet you have a great opportunity today. You can recreate the machine.
A few years ago my older brother passed away of liver failure. It was an event that caused me to embrace the truth that life is short. None of us know when our time will come. There’s is no reason why any of us should choose to stay in a place that is negative, life-sucking or unhappy. And although it sounds trivial, life is what we make it. It’s really on you to determine what you do with the time you have left. Time to face the fears. Embrace responsibility and get something done!
All of us get into a spot, albeit uncomfortable, that provides us with a choice. It's one of the greatest gifts we have as humans - the ability to choose. Choose to be positive or negative. Choose to have faith or disbelief. Choose to take action or wait for actions to come upon you. The time is now for you to take control. You can choose to make decisions to redefine who you will be in business, in your profession, and in your personal life. This is your time to act!
If these words resonate within in you, then Google the Nickelback tune…grab a pen and paper…and write down what path you want to create. Start from the end people! Where do you want to be at the end of 2019? What do you want? Dream a little and put it in writing. Once you have a vision of what can be…you can backwards to get there!
